LIBIDO AND SEXUAL FUNCTION ON A WFPB DIET

A Plant-Based Diet’s Impact on Libido

A plant-based diet can have a positive impact on libido and sexual function. A whole-food plant-based diet is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can support overall health and reduce inflammation in the body. When men and women have chronic inflammation in their bodies, it can lead to damage to blood vessels and nerves, which can affect sexual function. By reducing inflammation, a plant-based diet can help to improve blood flow and nerve function, which could potentially enhance sexual function and libido.

THE GAME CHANGERS

In the documentary The Game Changers, the researchers experimented on three athletes and their sexual health by feeding them either a diet-rich WFPB or dinner with meat, SOS, and fat. The athlete who ate the plant-based dinner held a stronger, nocturnal erection throughout the night compared to the other two athletes who ate meat.

First, plant-based foods are lower in saturated fats and cholesterol, which can contribute to poor blood circulation and heart disease. By reducing the risk of these health issues, a plant-based diet can improve overall cardiovascular health, which is important for healthy sexual function.

Second, plant-based diets are rich in nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can help to improve overall health and well-being. These nutrients can help support the production of sex hormones, such as testosterone, which are important for healthy libidos.

Third, a WFPB can help reduce inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation has been linked to several health problems, including sexual dysfunction. By reducing inflammation, a plant-based diet may help to improve sexual function. According to a writer for Men’s Health magazine, David McGlynn, chronic inflammation can lead to erectile dysfunction because it impairs genital blood flow. (Men’s Health, Oct. 20, 2016).

Finally, plant-based diets can improve overall energy levels and reduce fatigue, which can help improve sexual function and libido. A diet that is rich in whole, plant-based foods can provide sustained energy throughout the day, helping to combat fatigue and boost overall vitality.
